Chelsea are set to revive their interest in Jack Butland as talks over a new contract with Thibaut Courtois stalls.
The Blues are hoping to extend Courtois’ contract, but the Belgian is stalling over a new deal and the Premier League champions are now considering alternatives, with Butland in mind should they fail to make progress with their current No 1.

Courtois has been linked with both Real Madrid and PSG, and with his contract with Chelsea running out in 2019, the Blues understand they must act fast and decisively in order not to be caught unawares.

And part of the plan is to make a move for Butland, should a new deal for Courtois fail to materialize.
Butland is currently sidelined with a finger injury, but is Stoke City’s No 1 and is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League and at 24, still has a lot of time to mature and improve.
And he has also been tipped to establish himself as England’s No 1 ahead of Joe Hart, starting from the World Cup in Russia next year.
